About Smith Woollens
Smith & Co was founded in 1921 by Herbert Smith and Claude Graham. After only a few years Herbert Smith decided to pursue other interests, leaving Claude Graham with sole ownership until he passed it on to his son David. Smith Woollens was one of the very few merchants at the time to have a warehouse, and offices in Golden Square, London, which made the company ideally placed to service the needs of its customers. Smith & Co produces the highest quality wollens in the world and specializes in traditional patterns.
High-end luxury wool fabrics are featured in the Botany, Solaro, Finmeresco, Luxury Flannels, Formal & Dress Wear bunches.

Solaro Centenary Folder W21
Solaro is a really interesting cloth with a unique history. The 3 and 1 twill gives Solaro the characteristic iridescent appearance with the classic red undertones. It was this look that protected the British soldiers from the harmful effects of the sun as they set out to conquer the world in the 18th and 19th century. Today it makes an incredibly attractive and powerful suit. The cloth is Made in England.
